Starter always cranks tip
This is just a tip I am leaving for anyone else in the future. Today I replaced the starter on my truck (98 GMC k1500, 350 Vortec) and I had an interesting problem. After putting the starter in as soon as I would touch the battery cables the starter would immediately engage and start cranking the motor. What I found is that on the starter solenoid their is a large stud to put on the positive lead and a smaller stud for the "tickle wire", which from my understanding is what comes from the starter relay. On the large positive cable their is a eyelet with a little leg on it, presumable to keep it from rotating. What I did was I initially did not pay attention to it and it was touching the "tickle wire", so as soon as power was back, it would click on the solenoid. If anyone is having starter issues like that, that is my tip.
