Starting Issue 1990 K1500
I have a 1990 k1500 Single cab 5.7L V8 350. I replaced the ignition coil on it because after running some tests I figured that is what was going out just to be sure I took it in to get it and the ignition control module tested and the coil was bad. So I installed the new one and I still have the same problem. I tested the starter and I tested the battery everything seems to be working fine But my truck still won't start. It turns over but it won't fire. Please If someone can help me I would really appreciate it.
Are you sure it is an electrical problem? it might be fuel related. Spray some starter fluid into the throttle body and see if it tries to start and kicks over some. If it does then it is fuel related. You might also do a fuel pressure check.
I tried putting starter fluid in the throttle body and it is still having the same problem. I tested the spark plug wires for spark after I replaced the ignition coil and they still aren't getting spark.
I knew I had a new cap, rotor, wires, plugs but could not get it to fire. I called for a tow truck and the guy took it to a shop that he recommended. It was the distributor. The head mechanic had seen it happen before and of all the times that he tried to mend different distributors, he said it's best to just replace them.
