Default TH350 accumulator

Just installed a rebuilt TH350 from summit in my 86' El Camino. Had problems from the start. Input seal was bad, and the o-ring around the tail housing was not installed properly. Also had one more leak I couldn't seem to find. So I took it to a well known transmission guy in town and he found my accumulator was leaking also. He installed a new cover and a new o ring. When I picked the car up it was running great with no leaks. After about 5 miles it started smoking real bad and leaking fluid everywhere. I found the accumulator cover popped off. When I spoke with him about it he said in 35 years he's never heard of the snap ring breaking or coming off. He thinks my tranny may be building up pressure. I think he may not of seated the snap ring in far enough. Well I reinstalled it and took it around a couple blocks. So far so good. My question is have any of you had this happen before? Or heard of it? I'm taking this to a car show next weekend. Its 80 miles one way. Need yo he sure she's ready.
