Tips needed for telltale flood damage
I am considering purchasing an 02 Silverado. I ran a carfax and this message bothered me:
This vehicle was registered in a county declared a flood disaster area by the Federal Emergency Management Agency ( FEMA ).
What do I need to look at (on the truck)to see if this truck has had flood damage? It only has 70K miles and looks to be in good shape. One thing I did notice was black powder around the alternator housing.

Lift the door sill trim and check under the carpet for silt, mold, mildew, dampness, etc. Open front doors and check down in the bottom of the hinge pillar with a flashlite for silt.
just dont buy it period.....move on to another, why worry about it. give it a year it will be an electrical nightmare, a good detail shop will get most of the mildew out, ours even removes the carpet and seats if its bad enough, (bush trucks), leaves it couple days dries it out and puts it back in..
