Default Trans for a 383 stroker?

I am customizing and restoring a68 C10 SWB and I Plan on droping a 383 stroker pushing out about 450 Hp but I'm not sure on what kind of trans to mary it up with. The truck is going to to for street and strip. Also gearing for the rear end? Any help would be great.

a 700r4 is a great set up and lowers your final drive ratio making it good for the highway as well. Rear drive shaft will have to be cut, balanced, and welded.

gear ratio's are very important but the hard part is putting that all together with tire size trans ratios and overall performance. your gonna have to put a couple things together probably to get the right set up.

HELLO VET

IM running a 383 stroker in my 82 silverado I HAVE A HUGHES TURBO 400 TRANNY WITH A TCI 2500 STALL AND TRANNY COOLER THE CARB IS ELDELBROCK ALONG WITH A PROFORMER INTAKE I have the stock rearend in it for now but thats soon to be changed im running 272 gears I GET VERY GOOD GAS MILAGE with these gears Im going to put 373s in also for tires Im running bf goodrich p265 50 15 on all four corners I hope this helps you Ilike my hughes tranny works reall good
