I have a 1990 gmc k1500 4wd with a 350 5 speed trans. My issue started trying to take off one day and it made a loud pop and came out of gear, since then it doesnt want to let me take off in 1st or 3rd. Before this happened I could be driving down the highway in 3rd or 5th and it's like you could hear the gears running like metal on metal sounds. I checked the fluid and it was fine but my fill plug did have quite a bit of metal shavings gathered up on the magnet. Any help is greatly appreciated I just want to fix it or try to buy a cheap trans for now. Thanks!!

I found the site but all I saw was auto trans info

 

This is a manual transmission??

 

Further reading tells me it is a manual. Should be an inspection plate, but if the metal shavings are steel, and a more than small amount, I'd be looking to replace it.

 

Is this a suitable replacement for it?
