Exclamation Trouble accelerating after voltage regulator replacement

I have replaced the voltage regulator a few days ago. Out of nowhere one night taking someone home I started my van and "charging system failure" message come on. I drive and the volts start dropping slowly. It wasn't s long drive. Next morning I took it to auto zone where it was determined it was the alternator. I took off the voltage regulator and saw it was in bad shape. I changed it and it's fine except that now I have very much difficulty accelerating wich on became an issue during the failure of the voltage regulator. Could my problem be a blown fuse? It's s 2006 Chevy Uplander 3.5 v6 ls.
One of the carbon contact points was uneven
