OK, Long story short. I bought a mini spool due to the fact that my cross pin retainer bolt breaking and leading to the cross pin falling out and snapping in half. <--run on sentence. lol
I purchased a mini spool, new chrome moly cross pin and retainer bolt. Well, the bolt didn't show up in the package. Which leads to my question. Do i have to use that exact bolt or can i go grap any bolt and slap in there? The truck will never see over 50mph. If i understand correctly, the retainer bolt doesn't do any back breaking work. it just hold the cross pin from sliding out due to the force of spin around in a circe. Make sense?

 

If it is the same size/thread you should be fine. I would only caution you to get a grade 8 bolt cause unless you are sure it has no stress on it you don't want a weak bolt or you will end up with more than a broken bolt.
