I have a 99 silverad 4x4 2500 with a 6.0/ Auto. Driving to and from work (all highway no traffic) im getting about 22 MPG. I have not had this truck very long and havent done any real trips with it other than just to work and back.

My question is what kind of milage diferance is there between the 5.7 6.0 and 4.3?

Is any of the new gen4 motors superior?

I am very happy with the 6L I have. But my wife and I like the truck so much were thinking of the possibility of a 1/2 ton silverado SB.

I have an 04 Silverado 2500 4X4 with the 6.0L vortech engine, and it was listed from the factory at 11.5, which it barely got at the time. Over the years I've been tweaking away, and now I can barely eke out 18MPG on a highway economy run. 22MPG commuting? How do you do it?(I always knew it MUST be possible!)

BTW, my girlfriend has a 1500,loves it!
