Default VVT in 2500?

I have a friends with 1500 4x4 that are not happy with VVT, as far a towing their boats. One owns a 2016 and says it will not sense load and supply all cylinders when pulling his 20 ' bass boat. He may not have figured out how to override it??? I am interested in buying a used 2500. I don't believe Chevy puts VVT in 2500, since most buy these trucks for hauling loads. Is Chevy now installing VVT in 2500s and if so, when did they start putting them in 2500s? What is RPO code for VVT?

I am not 100% sure. 1500 owner complained that his VVT didn't work well when towed his boat. He also added that he believed that his cylinders were not all firing when pulling load as a result of VVT.

don't know about the newest model years but anything 2014 and older...the 2500 did not use vvt or cylinder deactivation. The vtt and cyl deactivation tech is great but when it breaks is $$ to fix.

test drive both 1500 and 2500's and see what you like. a 2500 series truck is bigger, stronger, will require fewer repairs as its a heavy duty truck. It will handle every aspect of towing better.

the only downside of a 2500 vs a 1500 is when not towing...a 2500 ride will be rough with no weight on the truck.
1500 vs 2500...difference in fuel mileage when towing is negligible but when driving empty is significant....thanks in part 1000lbs weight reduction, smaller displacment, vvt and cyl dxtiv8.

i just swapped a gmc 4.8 1500 to a ram 5.7 2500...so i'm noticing the differences.

I kinda wanted to narrow my searches for 2500s and W/O VVT crap! Besides, it is my understanding that 2500 gasers all have 4:10 gears. If u are real sure on the VVT year thanks!

my 06 2500 had the 4.11 and they were fantastic. Some models may have used 3.73 iirc.
