What is the name of this part??
Looking for the name of a part so I can attempt to replace it. The locking mechanism for the drop down spare tire, that is mounted on the bumper (where you stick your ignition key and pull out the locking mechanism) looks like it is supposed to have a plastic cover over it (on my 2002 2500HD). What is the name of this locking mechanism so I can try and find a replacement cover? Thanks in advance!

"Spare Tire Lock" is the name of it....simple and obvious eh? This is from an options list on edmunds.com. If you google --spare tire lock-- it pulls up many places to find it.

lol, well thanks for that ingenious (if not simple) answer ...I do appreciate it. I managed to search through every category on various auto parts websites, but never thought to google "lock" ::sigh::
