​​​​​​it is brand new and it was the exact same one that originally came with the vehicle.

ok I just drove it and I was wrong...it stays at perfect temperature with the heat on...what do you think it could be? I had the head gasket checked and they said it was fine.

perfect temperature is? What temperature tstat are you running?

The other thing to check (I suspect too high temp tstat), after its warm, or operating temperature, can you completley squeeze off the top radiator hose?
