1995 Chev Grumman Step Van
4.3 engine, 6 cylinder
propane powered
food truck
column shifter


This problem started before I stored the truck for the winter. I can't shift into R and D from park? Very stiff and it feels like I will break the column if I tug on it too much.


I've tried revving up the engine and trying it. Tried pumping the brakes. The transmission fluid is topped up.
I can't drive it to a garage because I can't put it in gear!!!


Any ideas?

Any ideas?

 

Try turning the steering wheel back & forth a few times before trying to shift it.
My dads was hard to shift because it's column shift & turning the wheel loosened it.
