Looking for a adjustable timing pointer. Do they make an adjustable pointer, for ZZ502. The OEM pointer is cast on the front cover..

I guess, I should ask, how good is the OEM pointer to top dead center ?
I am replacing the OEM dampener, as the the timing ring has spin 3 degrees. No longer in line with the machined crank keyway.

Assuming the existing pointer hasn’t been damaged/bent, it’s more accurate than any aftermarket pointer will be.

 

I asked about an adjustable pointer. I will use an indicator to determine piston true TDC And I did say replacing damper due to timing ring spun 3 degrees !

Is there one that will fit zz502

 

You also asked about the accuracy of the OEM pointer, which is the question I was trying to answer….

So is the OEM pointer (on timing cover) damaged or not? If not, there’s no need to install an adjustable pointer, but if you still want to, I’d recommend contacting summit racing or similar companies.

So….

If the OEM pointer that’s attached to the timing cover is in good condition, it’s accurate.

If you want to install an adjustable pointer, there’s several options for your engine, but you’ll have to decide which one works for you depending on the position you want and clearance you have to work with.
