Does the 2007 HHR LT with the 2.4L have a timing chain or a timing belt? I'm looking into buying one and just wondering what it has in it?

 

All Ecotec engines that I have worked on have timing chains. Also if you bought the car and notice you hear noise when you start the car that goes away shortly after the oil pressure comes up be wary . If it sounds like it might be a timing chain noise change the tensioner pronto. The tensioner has had several designs revisions, if it fails it will cost you at least a thousand dollars to fix yourself. I got out that cheap only because I have access to General Motors documents and a network of friends in the used car parts business.
