Default Cooling fan won't come on.

2006, hhr LT 2.4
I have checked fan with 12v and works. If I unplug wire from coolant temp sensor fan comes on. Replaced sensor and fan still does not come on, let car get up to 210 degrees and still no joy. Changed thermostat also while coolant was out of engine. I am stumped, any ideas? Car has 170,000 miles, picked it up as a tow vehicle.

relay and fuse are good, fan comes on when I disconnect coolant temperature sensor. I replaced that sensor and it made no difference.

Update, decided to let car run to 220 after another thread said 217degrees. Sure enough, fan came on at 217 degrees. All my fretting for nothing. All my other vehicles fan comes on about 195 or so.
