Incorrect tow
Hi,
I have a 2010 HHR automatic fwd. I bought it brand new 9/2010. It has been the perfect little vehicle and I absolutely love it. In January I had a dead battery problem and needed to have it jumped. It ran for 10 minutes and died, unable to restart. I called the dealer again for a jump and they decided to tow it in to look at it. My husband and I sat outside freezing our butts off while the tow truck driver jumped the car, put it in neutral and hooked it up from the rear to his tow truck. I watched in horror as he scraped the front apron on the end of the driveway and commented that if there was any damage they would fix it free of charge. The dealer is a about a mile or so away. The car was ready at 5pm that night, no problems, just a dead battery they recharged. I took my car home and everything seemed fine. A few weeks later I start noticing rubbing noises coming from the wheels. I call and ask if they would look at it, describing my concern about the towing and maybe damage as a result. I brought the car in and was met by the manager telling me I was mistaken and there was no way it was towed in that way, he had talked to the tow truck driver. The tech noticed the scraped up apron from underneath but failed to find any other problems, ie the rubbing noise.
It still makes the noise, but it is softer than before. My apron is still scraped up and I apparently am a liar. If I develop transmission problems in the future, will I be covered or did the driver mess up my warranty? I had no idea towing it that way was bad and neither did my husband. I assumed the dealer would send a qualified person. What recourse do I have here?
Thanks for any advice!
