It took me way to long to think of the idea to come to the forums for help. Anyways, i own an 01 Impala LS 3.8L. It has many problems, but todays topic is that it wont start. Im no mechanic. I go to youtube for my solutions, but not im out of solutions. So here's the story. My car had the passlock issue. I read they're 3 wires connecting to the ignition switch which are the black, yellow, and white. I ended up cutting the yellow wire and left it like that (later in life i read i was suppose to connect the black wire to the yellow with a resistor, keep reading). So, it worked! For only about half a year though. Little by little, every day the problem got worse. How you may ask? I will turn on my car for a drive. And it will turn on and work for a few hours, then wont start up anymore. So i would have to wait a few more hours to turn it on again. Then usually by over night when morning hit, it would work again and the process would repeat. Anyways, it brings me to now, which it doesnt turn on anymore. I ended up reading more on the passlock problem, and it said to connect the black wire to the yellow with a resistor, which i did not do at first. So i ended up connecting a 2200 ohm resistor to the black and yellow wire. Well, this didnt fix my problem. What i can tell you about the reseting process, is that the security light will only go away after i tried starting the car. I read i needed to let the security light go away, turn off the car, put it back on "ON", and let it go away again. But i couldnt. When i put it back on ON, it just wouldnt go away. It only would go away after i tried starting it, then "Security" will flash(it will not flash at me if i didnt try starting it on, it will only be a solid notification), and after 10 minutes, it will go away. And if i tried starting it after that went away, still nothing. So thats my problem guys, help me? Any suggestions? Other things i can tell you is that i went to get my battery charged and it said it was a bad battery. But when i plugged it into my car, it still turned on all the lights inside. Could this be a problem that might not have started it? If you were wondering if my car cranks, it doesnt. I checked my fuses and they seem fine. If you can think of any specific fuses to double check again, please do. HELP ME! GIVE ME SUGGESTIONS! Its been siting for about...7 months now. Also has an aftermarket alarm.<br /><br />Here's a bonus question. My climate control will die on me. As in, it will turn off by itself and wont let me turn it on again. Only after some time passes, it will turn back on. It will automatically switch itself to recycle mode, and if i tried switching it to something else, or even adjust the speed, it just wouldnt let anything work.<br /><br />Im also posting a pic of something i found unplugged. Where does this go, and what is it for? Its located behind the steering wheel.<br /><br />Cheers.
