Default '06 Impala Key fab problem

When I first got the car, the original remote was pretty screwed up, but still worked. It slowly stopped working, so I switched to the spare. It was working fine up until about 6 month ago, when it started working dodgy, which I figured was just a dead battery. Just recently, it stopped working all together, so I switched the battery. Nothing. I bought another housing for it, new rubber keys, everything and still nothing. Is something bad on the boards? I noticed when I took the boards out around the buttons on the boards there was the black stuff, not sure what it was.
