Default 2000 chevy impala 3.4 electrical issues

Ok my car just shut off today while i was at a read light before it died at gas pump and wouldnt start each time i needed a jump. AAA tested said batt and alternator were bad. I replace alternator same day only to shut off at red light 2days later. Took it to a shoP they said new alternator was no good and change bat. They said alternator was putting out 12 amps but wasnt charging batt. I brought a new alternator again and had auto zone put a new batt in said cell was gone in previous one which was a yr old. Took it back to shop and they said alternator was still putting out 12amps but that there was power going to alternator and most likely the car was running before as long as i was accelerating. This issue just started amoung alot of other things right after i had the starter replaced. I unhooked my amp and cut cdplayer off with same results. Idk what to do next and autozone tested my old alternator when i took it back for the core and said it tested fine has to be something else. Car has almost 150k miles. I cam crank and drive fine now with new batt and new alternator but was told car is running off batt alone so its parked. I have no clue what to have checked next. Help please

You're not missing any of the wires from the alternator connection?
Got them all hooked up?

I don't know about a 2000 3.4, but isn't the alternator commanded to turn off and on by the BCM in newer cars?
