Maybe a leak in the plastic hose that runs from the pump to the top of the plastic cap on the fuel pump assembly?

That shouldn't be a problem because I replaced it with some submersible rubber hose. (That stuff is expensive!). It seems to be getting about 20MPG (city/hwy combined) now, so maybe the pump really was the problem? Pressure is the same, but maybe the old pump wasn't keeping up under load. The new pump is totally silent, whereas I could hear the old one (engine off). Thanks for the help.
