Default 2002 Impala wont start

I have a 2002 Chevrolet Impala that one day while driving the speakers made a soft pop and then the gas gauge dropped to E. I pulled over and turned the key to off, the engine stayed running for a few seconds and then shut off. I tried to start the car but all it does is click. The headlights stay on til the battery dies or is disconnected even after the keys are removed. My parking lights dont work, my fuel pump isnt turning on. When i turn the key to accessory the instrument panel shows the mileage but not the gears like Park, drive reverse, or neutral, and it tells me "service vehicle soon". Also the radio tells me "CAL ERR" I have replaced the ignition switch but nothing has changed. I tried to scan for codes but my scanner says that it cannot link. I know the scanner works because i used it on other cars. Any ideas?

Hi hippiestokes, welcome to the forum. Wow, you have a lot of things going on and not working right. Like you said, the scanner cannot establish a connection and a scanner would make it a lot easier. How is the battery voltage? Is there any corrosion on the battery terminals? How does the ground cable look at both ends? When you turn the key to accessory, does the lamp test light all lights including the check engine light? I had a Saturn that would not connect to a scanner and that turned out to be missing +12 volts and the connector where you plug the scanner into in the car. On my Saturn, there was green corrosion on the +12 volt terminal that caused me problems, but I've seen blown fuses cause similar problems.
