2003 Impala LS: Tapping Noise In Engine

I have a 2003 Impala with 71,000 miles on a Buick 3800 transplant due to the original engine's death due to a spun bearing. The Buick engine had 90,000 miles on it when it was swapped, and the shop billed me for a upper and lower intake gasket job and water pump before installing it.
The engine has been trouble free for over a year now, but we had the tranny rebuilt last week at 71,000 miles and the MAF changed.
Today, a tapping noise began at idle 30 seconds after start-up. It does not sound anything like a rod. I know from the original engine what a major bottom end problem sounds like.
It's somewhat like a muffled, "helicopter rotor" type tap that keeps up with engine speed. It isn't noticeable when driving, and the performance is not affected at all. It is nothing like a rod knock, and it sure sounds like it is right on top of the engine.
The engine oil looks good and was changed a month ago. I run Havoline 10W-30. The car doesn't miss beat, but this tapping noise is a cause for concern, since we lived through one engine death already.

UPDATE!
I took it to a local shop, and they found a vacuum hose loose. I didn't ask why, since it was a freebie.![Cool](https://chevroletforum.com/forum/images/smilies/cool.gif)
The MAF code is still there, but the tranny shop is on the hook for that one and the mis-alignment they caused when they built the tranny.
