Default No sound

There is no sound coming out of the speakers. The radio has power but the factory amp in the trunk doesn't have power. Hence no sound.. I read that in the 02 that problem is common and it is caused by a connection in the wires running to the trunk. The one ruin that is faulty is under the carpet in the pack passenger floorboard. Or at least in an 2002 impala.
I have a 2005 impala with the same problem. Can anyone tell me if the fix is the same???? I'd like to know b4 I start pulling my car apart. Lol thank you for any help , sorry my first post was unclear ..
