2006 chevy impala column shifter to console shifter conversion
Hi, I have a 2006 chevy impala lt but it has the steering column shifter and I really would like to have a console shifter instead. Does anyone know if this is possible for me to do or how difficult it is to do? If it is a heavy task to handle can someone point me in a direction on who to contact to do it for me?
Difficulty is hard to measure since we do not know your level of experience. Go to a junk yard and buy the console and all the shifter parts needed. You will also need a steering column so you can get rid of the old shifter and look original. It is a lot of work.
I moved mine from column to floor it ain't hard disconnected cable from column went to junk yard take pics how the floor shift cable is ran in run it same way there is a hole already in the wall located in the middle for the cable to run to console make Shure grab the cable in floor shifter and console u don't have to hook safety neutral wire way by past that is on floor shifter you will see on left side towards the bottom it look a square with a lil bar/spring push down put screw to hold then u will be able to shift the shifter .. it's cake work honestly u do not have to change column/steering wheel out just take off column shifter with the lil bar next to it that has a white clip looking thang fort column shift it's star bit screws
