Default 2006 Impala radio has no sound

Police package car. Tested speakers and radio and work fine. Hooked speaker directly to speaker outlets on back of radio and there was sound. There is no amp between rear speakers in trunk and no orange wire in harness in rear floorboard. Base radio system. Rear speaker wires come out of there own plug in back of radio. Front speaker wires come out of plug with power wires. Is there a central point where all wires from radio go to in harness? With no amp does the rear speaker wires go directly from the back of the radio to the speakers? How can both front and rear speakers lose signal at the same time? Also no steering wheel controls. Since this is a police pkg car, did they come factory with no front working speakers and no chimes? Any help appreciated. Thanks

chimes are part of the oem radio function. if you have an aftermarket radio you will need a chime module to provide chime sounds.
are all parts oem? different ohm speakers will fool the radio into thinking there is a short and will stop all sound out put. if each speaker works indiviually but everything shuts down when all are connected...check that each speaker ohm rating.

i would disconnect the speaker wiring at the radio and speakers. with a dvom do a ohm check....if the result is an open wire...run new wiring. if it was just the front speakers going out i would say check the wiring harness is the a-pillar as goes into the door. they flex and will break over time.
the chimes are produced by the radio and signals sent to the speakers. so any fault in the radio, wiring or speakers will result in no chimes.

After some research, I am wondering if the problem could lie in the BCM, Body Control Module. Computer says it controls most everything inside car such as radio, lights, power accessories, relays, etc. Can cause interminent problems or glitches and power drain leading to dead battery. Has anyone had this issue and had to change a BCM before.
