i cant get my steering wheel to seat all the way on the shaft so my horn is always blowing!!!!!!!!!!!!please help

Is it splined correctly? Are you pushing it on straight?If it is splined and up, is the horn switch correctly? You might try dry ice on the shaft, then try to spline it after it sets with dry ice for 20-30 minutes. Is this the original wheel?

its the original wheel and everything is lined up. I did notice that it didn't have a spring with a sir clip to secure it like most 60s chevys have

Send a pix, I am thinking the spring is what keeps the switch from going to ground unless horn is depressed. Been a long time since I had my 64 SS

there was no spring or locking ring. But there was no issue untill I tore it all apart to replace the blinker switch
