Impala While undergoing many facelifts in its history, the Impala has proved itself to both civilians and police forces as one of the most capable 4-door cars GM has ever offered. Currently moving towards its 10th generation the Impala is one of the longest lasting and popular models.

Anyone buy a 2014 Impala 2LTZ thru Consumer Reports or Costco's auto programs?

I totally agree... I didn't feel the need to haggle. I asked for free mats and they laughed and said we can't give you anything else you took it all already.

If you got the 500 off already that's fine because they don't like to combine incentives. Like I got an additional 750 off for being military but they wouldn't give the loyalty incentive also. I was under the impression it was one or the other and military was a little higher so I stuck with that.

If you were to go to truecar.com, you're probably in the 1% of best prices.

I was in the average of 97% of people for a 2ltz with 20" rims.. looks like I could have wiggled for $500 more for the best price (without car buying). Credit Union looked like they were going to get their cut and I probably would have paid them the $500-1k difference in price.
I looked at true car when I built the car on usaa. They show you the national average compared to what you pay, and I saw I was wayyyy below the average. One of the reasons I loaded up on options

I purchased my 2011 impala in Sept. 2011. Six months later a message saying to service stabilink and traction further it said my engine power is being reduced. I brought it in for no rear window defrost. Mentioned my stabilink problem. They looked into it so they said, but suggested it may have come on because of the gas pedal. It came on several more times. Next time I brought it in asked them to check it again. Said they saw it but dismissed it being a problem brought it in a 3rd time for brakes and said it continually comes on. The message continually comes on and yes my engine power is reduced when it does display. My warranty is up. I fear they may charge me now to fix or investigate again. What do you know about this message or if it is a real problem with Impalas? I am at a loss.

I'll have to check in a couple weeks when I am back home and see what I paid exactly but it was something like: preferred price, the USAA money, and I want to say an additional amount that went hand-in-hand with the preferred price and GM program. I only knew about the USAA discount because of an ad on the GM FamilyFirst page and looking at it now, it is the same ad as before and says $750, so I must have actually gotten that instead of $500 (don't know where I was thinking $500 from...).
The site right now says the employee price with the options I got (2LTZ with comfort/convenience, premium audio, and nav) is $35,670. I had to have hit right around that before the USAA discount but like I said, I have to check when I get back to the US to be certain.

When my grandmother told me over the phone that she called to get info on the program and that I could log in online to get an authorization number, I was telling her what the USAA car buying service could do. She said that she was under the impression that after using the authorization number, nothing could be combined and no further negotiating could be done. She was actually surprised that the USAA discount took (and I was as well). Due to her telling me that, I didn't expect to haggle at all. If there was any room to move, I'll have to keep it in mind later in life when I need a new car.

I had a similar "You are getting a good enough deal as it is" moment like you had, but it was in regards to my trade-in.
I was trading in my '99 Malibu that wasn't in the worst of shape. I was told I would get either $200 or $400 for it (not entirely sure on the amount). I tried to negotiate on it and they were pretty firm. Since I didn't want to deal with that car anymore, I said "Fine, take it off my hands for me." So after signing for my car and heading out, the salesman and I were driving to my wife's place of employment. When I bought the car from a buddy early last year, I was out of the country at that time too and my wife signed it to her name.
So we are heading to her work to get her signature on the paperwork and were talking about the deal I got. The salesman is telling me how beautiful the car is and how that USAA promo ended up getting me a better deal on the car than he could have gotten. I told him I was happy with the price but wish I could have gotten more on the trade-in, as I had just sold a '99 Contour a couple months back that didn't even run and was in terrible shape for $500.
He looked at me with this 'come on, son' look and said "We didn't make anything off of this car. As soon as you whipped out that authorization number, it was pretty much decided that you weren't going to get anything on that Malibu." I kind of laughed and was like "I guess I understand where you guys are coming from. I'm just happy to be rid of it and have this."
