I have a 2003 Impala that the blower motor quit working. It will run occasionally but most of the time not. I have removed both the blower motor & resistor and replaced them but it still does not run on any speed. I've found that it will run when after starting the engine if I turn the key to towards the "start" position. Also, the AC control will not work properly with the switch in the run position. Again, with the switch held in the early stage of the "start" position I am able to turn on & off the AC with the button in the dash.

Any ideas???

 

The switch is attached to a small rod that when the switch is moved to on, start the rod moves to make the switch (on the column) contact. I'd guess either contacts are dirty, or rod needs adjusted.

 

The ignition switch is mounted in the dash not in the steering column.

 

Sorry. Can you see the electrical connector under the dash on the switch? I'd suggest pop it off, and with some spray electrical cleaner spray them. It maybe the switch is slightly worn causing an intermittent contact.

The ignition switch was bad. I replaced it and everything works now.
