Default Fake Tail light Panel

Greetings everyone! Newbie here. My wife and I just purchased an 05 Impala LS. When we got the car home, we noticed the 'fake tail lights' that house the reverse lights had water in them. And I'm not talking a little water, they were half full. When I took the panel off, I noticed the reverse bulbs were blown and even they had water in them. I could not for the life of me find how water could have gotten in there. My question is, I am looking to replace that whole 'fake tail light' /reverse light panel thing but don't know what it's (technically) called so I can search for it on line. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance. Scott

Thank you Hot Sause. I looked under everything I could thing of that it would have been called and came up blank.. Now I know.. 'rear center panel.' If you're referring to your 'little mod' of making them working tail lights... that's way over my technical expertise. Thanks again.

Just make sure that when you get one that its off of a 05, the same year that your car is. From 00-03 The tailights were red and not as dark as the 04's and 05's which were black with the red in the tailight part, (where the water is in yours)

Or you can tint them like I did. That will fix that

The water was in the reflectors that house the reverse lights. They were half full to the point that the reverse bulbs were blown. I looked everywhere but couldn't see how the water got in there.
I noticed some of the panels for sale were red and some are black. I found one from the same year as my car. '05' Thanks

I saw a woman at work here that had water in hers. I was thinking the same thing of how.
What are you going to do with your old panel?

Default tail light panel on 2004 Chevrolet Impala

My impala has the black plastic center tail light panel and I'm wanting to replace it with a panel that matches the paint on my car. I've seen several and I prefer the look a lot better. Does anyone know where I can get the 3 piece light kit? I took it to a body shop and they offered to paint the one I have which would look awful and he told me he had no way to order one.
