Default Grinding in rear

Since May 2019 when I bought it, my 2014 Impala LS has had grinding from the back when I brake, but it happens randomly. I had the front brakes changed in June 2019 and was told my back brakes had plenty of life left. February of this year, the grinding has not yet stopped. I had the brakes looked at during my tire change, and was told my rear brakes had 4-5 mm of brake pad left. I know other owners have had issues with wheel bearings on the 2014 Impala, but I am not sure what signs there are for bad bearings besides grinding and hot wheels (my wheels are cool to the touch even after driving 65 miles). I am trying to get my car repaired after the virus blows over, but I'm not sure what is going on and wanted some vague idea on repair costs.

Don't wait for lockdown to be lifted. You need to pop those wheels off and see what's going on.
