Hard Shifting
Hello Impala Owner's
,
I have a 03 Impala Ls with a 3.8L V6 engine and i have 125,000 miles, Lately i have been experiencing some hard shifting issue's
, My impala shift's hard in 1st gear and goes into "limp mode" and loses power
. It seem's to happen only when the car warm's to operating temperature's, I have read in various auto forum's that 2000 to 2005 model impala's are known for having "transmission" problem's
! If anyone are having or had the same issue's with there impala's i would like to know what was the diagnosis and what work was done that fixed the problem's...I appreciate's everyone's time, Thank's

I have a 2001 with 68,000 miles and it has been through four, yes (4) transmissions already. Every time it would start shifting hard and within a few days it would be toast. The shop nor myself can figure out why this keeps happening. It may be rebuild time so make sure you get a good warranty on the rebuild and save the paperwork if so.
Hello Eggie329,
Thanks for your insight on our impala transmissions, I purchased my Impala used and as i write this post it's in the shop getting transmission work
, When i took it in to get checked out i mention to the mechanic impala's are known for having transmission problem's, I really like my impala and im in it for the long haul...The only thing that gives me relief is that my impala is at the end of it's 'Powertrain warranty' so the dealer is paying for the transmission and labor cost. So you're on transmission number (4)...WOW
! Everyone i talk to transmission problem's start around 60,000 to 100,000 miles, I'll be keeping my impala for a few more year's and i can see myself getting a second transmission replacement in the near future
, I owned a 87 and a 98 chevy cavalier that had over 220,000 miles and never had any transmission issue's with those car's so i believe it's a design flaw with all Impala transmissions...I'll definitely keep all my receipts, Thank's for replying
