Default Hesitation Blues

My son's 2001 9C1 Impala has 71,000 miles with the 3800 engine. It's hesitating when hereaches about 50mph. You can put your foot to the floor and it won't go any faster. It starts to whine like the transmission is slipping and feels like it slips into neutral. Can anybody tell me what's wrong?

Default RE: Hesitation Blues

ummm the transmission.......if it feels like its slipping it prolly is.....few other thigns that will make you lose power and hesitate, clogged cat, fuel filter. fuel pump (although these just usually gowith little or no warning), wires, plugs, (these 2 would be weird, with only 70,000on it, depends on if you do lots of highway or town driving)....and 9C1??? SS model or just LS, the 3800 came in a supercharged version as well, the whine you are talkign about could teh the supercharger, if it is equipped. could be teh prepeller in it
