2006 Impala blend door actuators
Safety First!
These are very tight spots; unless you take out the whole under-dash.
blend door actuator replacement
Drivers side
I first removed all access panels under the steering wheel plus the power point panel under the radio console.
Four (4) screws and 3 plastic trim plugs.
This will add more light to a confined space; use small LED lights.
I removed the floor light and the connector from the plastic panel; the light twists and the connector is slip clipped.
Unclip the wire harnesses on the frame; this will give you more space.
Find the actuator, pull the electrical locking tab out and pull on the connector up.
Use a 5.5mm socket with a thumb ratchet or 1/4 small ratchet with extensions or swivels_two screws.
It should pop out. Notice the orientation of the shaft.
If the shaft is not clocked, attach the electrical connector; put actuator over shaft and alignment pins.
Turn on the ac controls;Re-clock the actuator to an approximate position.
Use the AC_fan control_ to clock.
Once the shaft is aligned; secure the acuator with the two screws; it must be aligned.
Check to see if the actuator functions correctly, AC/ Heat/ Defrost on.
Re-install the panels.
For Passenger side actuators.
Remove the inside of the glove box for access.
Find the actuators and do the same.

I'd like to thank anyone and everyone that took the time to respond to my plea for help. Shortly after I made the decision to tackle this job, I tore a tendon in my right shoulder. My oldest son (46) took on the job. He used the .PDF given to me by in2pro. It took him about an hour and ten minutes to complete the replacement.
Again thank you all for your help.
Ron
