I have a 2005 impala base 3.8
I want to put a SS engine in it
my goal is 600 hp in the long run
what ideas can you guys offer to make this happen?

I know there is a detailed swap involved and those details are welcome as well

 

You will never get a Impala transmission to hold up to 600HP, and neither will the half shafts. A FWD vehicle in general is not a good choice for 600 HP, It will be front heavy, not stop good and like I said, good luck finding any FWD Transmission to hold up to 600HP The best 4T65E Tranny will probably hold up to 270 or 280 HP, then it will have problems.

These cars just do not make good muscle cars, it is what it is, a decent 4 door family sedan, you will never make this into a good sport sedan. Spend your money elsewhere.

 

do you want to go with a 3.8 s/c ss or 5.3 ss?
stock ss 5.3 are at 300hp, stage 2 on ss 3.8 t/c with the gen 5 eaton easily get to 300 also, I've ridden in a s/c and turbo 99 gtp with 450hp...trans was modified also. Imo it will be an expensive swap. best to have a donar car.
why not try a top swap first before going all out.
