is there a bimeatl spring that opens when hot or is it just a spring that stays closed all thee time untill the u reve up the engine?

 

that is what is called a heat riser, and it helps direct heat up towards the carburetor. When we had our exhaust done, the guy got rid of it because it was all rusted/pitted and it runs perfectly fine without it
