Default Inadvertent Trunk Opening - 2017

I've had my 2017 Impala 3 weeks and have found the trunk open 3 times when coming out to it. All 3 times the key fob was in my pocket, different pants each time. Dealer says there are no reported issues so they can't do anything, dooming me to a faulty car and frequent occurrence of the problem. But I've seen this has been an issue on past models and either the key fob can be reprogrammed or replaced, or the trunk receiver replaced. Help! I love my car but can't live with such a major issue.

I would think the same fix COULD apply to your 2017, but then the Chevrolet Customer Service rep on this forum could assist you and investigate if that is possible. I too had the same problem with my 2014 Impala and at first, I got one of those silicone key fob covers to make the buttons more recessed. It did help, but did not eliminate the problem. The last straw was one morning when I went out to get the paper, and found the trunk wide open with a downpour that was going on for some time. I ended up using about a half dozen towels to mop up the water, then leaving the trunk open on sunny days to let the heat and wind dry it out. The re-programming of the car REALLY helped and I have not had 1 incident since then.

Dealer says Chevy corporate knows of no issues like mine, and that there is nothing they can do. Their recommendation is to try the other key fob. If that works they may replace the other one. Seems kind of stupid to me. So their solution is to keep me at risk of having the same scenario you had, putting me at risk of having property stolen or damaged. Where did you get the silicone key fob cover Frank3?
Needless to say I'm extremely disappointed with both corp[orate and my dealer. I guess because I'm the first one to report the problem the problem doesn't really exist because nobody reported it before me. And they can't figure out what to do, even though they have had the same problem with other models previously. Very irritating!

Ed, I went online and googled "silicone remote cover" looked at the results and went to the site that looked the most legit. I think it was https://www.thejacketstore.com/store...over-9p102.htm . Like I said, it reduced the number of occurrences but it still happened once after I got it. Like I said before, maybe Chevrolet Customer Service will chime in to research this and help you out.
Take a look through this tread and see if it helps. I too had to ask and make several trips to the dealer to get it "adjusted". https://chevroletforum.com/forum/imp...-itself-67222/

Last week had another inadvertent trunk opening in my 2017 Chevy Impala. Using my second remote, and even had it in a leather case with a clear plastic window over it. Granted the keys were in my pocket, and at one point I was lying on the couch. But I'm never had an issue with this on my 2006 Impala over 10 years. And the big problem is that with the 2017 the trunk opens all the way, making it an obvious theft target for anyone passing by. Luckily the trunk was virtually empty and the neighbors noticed it (and it wasn't raining). But I'm beginning to feel like my remote is a ticking time bomb with nitroglycerin in it and I have to baby it and take it out of my pockets anytime I get somewhere. Has anyone else had this problem?

Before I had mine reprogrammed, I swear if you just touched or looked at the trunk button wrong the trunk would open. When I get home tonite, let me see if I can time how long the button now needs to be depressed to when the trunk opens. I take it yours opens right away with no delay when the button is depressed.
