Default Issues with '14 2LT

Hey guys, just wanting to post up some issues I've run into with my 2LT. The first 2-3,000 miles were pretty awesome, my first new car ever, then the problems began. It started with the touchscreen flickering on and off, at which point I took it to the dealership where they found no issues then escalated to a life-threatening experience. On my way to work one early morning (4:30am), the screen went black as I was approaching the intersection of a back road and a state highway. I began to depress the brake pedal and the transmission never even tried to downshift and the brakes did not stop the car. I blew the stop sign and found myself in the path of a semi-truck, which luckily did not hit me. Car finally stopped and I was able to drive off. I drove it to work (less than a mile away) and later took it to the dealership where they ended up replacing the whole screen/entertainment center but diagnostics could not find anything wrong with tranny/brakes. That was three weeks ago, and today my car is back at the dealership after trying to run out for beverages last night. I went out to the garage and there was no sound coming from the stereo, screen was dim and the car would not move while in reverse. The back-up camera came on, letting me know that I indeed was engaged into "R" but no movement, tach revved up to 2k but no movement. This morning, everything was perfectly fine with it. Car now has 7,310 miles on it and the dealership has had it 3 times...I'm losing confidence that they can fix the issue and I'm trying to contact GM now (they haven't contacted me back yet) hoping that they will buy the car back or replace it with a new car. I'm scared to drive it now with just me in the car, I took my 6 yr olds car seat out as I will NOT let him ride in it ever again. Incredibly frustrated and at a crossroads, What do you guys think? BTW, I am NOT a Chevy basher, or foreign car lover, or someone who just complains...I've worked with Chevy on this already but they aren't contacting my back today which kind of angers me...especially considering the mess they are in with their current recalls.

The transmission downshifting isn't exactly required to stop the car. I guess you could have tried manual mode.

Did you try to pump the brakes?

So you were just gliding a long with no brakes essentially... how did it stop?

There's the thing with the panic stop where the brakes get primed quickly with extra pressure.. I definitely hope the engineers wouldn't have tied any of that stuff in with the console panel.

I guess you didn't have time to depress the electric parking brake either.

Anyways, that is all pretty messed up. Thanks for the post and heads up.

I didn't really have time to think much lol, I just kept pressing harder and harder on the brakes like I was always taught to do with anti-lock, no brake pumping like on my old Cutlass' and '67 Impala. After I blew across the state highway, the brakes suddenly engaged, car gave a violent shudder, and stopped. I thanked Jesus a few times, went to work because I didn't know what else to do that early in the morning. I'm more upset that no one from GM will talk to me about it this time, last time one the reps that hang out on this board contacted me very quickly after I shot her a PM. I've sent 2, called GM hotline, tried a live chat with a rep, and nothing. I don't blame the dealership either, I know they're doing the best they can (they have it right now, gave me an Equinox to try). I just really don't want the car anymore, scared to death of it...not too mention that I drive out of town a lot and I don't want to get somewhere and the transmission get stuck in park again and I can't get home. And the dealership just called me to say they have an engineer or different type of tech from GM driving down here tomorrow to look at my car. Could be BS, but maybe not

I'm probably getting some sort of dash cam at some point, but I think it might need to be more a console cam that rests on the passenger seat near the headrest or something.

Just velcro a mobius on or something.

last night, I video'd the issues I was having my stereo and being stuck in park because I just knew that the issue wouldn't present itself when I finally got it to the dealer. They haven't asked for the video yet, but I'm sure GM is gonna want to see it when I start arbitration with them

This sounds a lot different than the cable becoming disengaged. (It couldn't possible re-engage?)

So I am working with GM Customer Service (the dealership too) for a resolution on this issue now. They've been very courteous and understanding thus far.
