My 2006 impala won't shift out of park and brake are weak going to the floor. Can a broken brake line cause the gear shifter to stop releasing? Any info will help

 

no. the brake shift interlock solenoid get an input from the brake switch. if you have a floor shift model...i have seen this wire break under the shift lever. you should hear this solenoid click when the brake pedal is pressed.


if the brake pedal is sinking, there is a separate problem...maybe a leaking line or wheel cylinder.... or bad master internally bleeding down.
