I AM VERY UNHAPPY ABOUT THE HORRIBLE GAS MILEAGE THAT THE 2007 IMPALA'S ARE GETTING!
I would think that the car dealers are looking for a way to save the consumer money instead of making it worse. My 2004 LTZ got 22 in the city and 26-28 on the highway. My 2007 LTZ gets 16-17 in the city and only 20 mpg on a trip. I think this is awful!
Does anyone know a way to increase the gas mileage in these cars? Is there a tune up or some "cheats" anyone knows about?

Thats a bit of a surprise your hiway MPG is that bad.
I did a trip from the west to see my brother in Elkhart IN.
in my 07 LTZ.
The weremany times when I checked my Average feul economy after several hours of driving.
I was getting 31.5 on the readout. Strictly hiway and across the flatlands going a little less than the posted speed limit of 75.
I will be doing a test for city mpgJuly 4th.I am doing a friends job
which is 40 miles of stop and go city driving.

I have complained to the dealer regarding this situation. I wonder if other LTZ owners are experiencing either good results as you are or bad results like mine. I would be interested in knowing what you get on your city test.

With this car I also had a problem with my remote not working. They thought I was crazy! Then, after a while, there was a problem that surfaced and I had mine fixed. I even went so far as to do a phone video of the distance I was from my car when the remote worked (ten feet!) I love the Impala's and think they are a great driving experience, but this gas mileage has me ticked off.

I just go my new 07 SS last week. It is fully loaded except for the CD Changer and is Precision Red. I like the car a lot and "yes" the torque steer is significant.

we have an 07 3LT. so it has the 3.9L like the LTZ.
On average- were getting 22mpg with mixed city and highway driving.
We took a trip- gassed up- reset everything- and hopped on the highway along the coast- 2 adults. no cargo.
Set cruise control from 60-63. and drove- the DIC was showing about 34.x MPG....
when the highway turned into the hills- it dropped a bit down to 32. It was a 3 hour drive 1 way. the return trip was similar- with a slight change in route. But once we got home- the DIC showed wed averaged 32 miles per gallon.
Ive taughtgf how to let off the gas and coast as much as possible and not to jack rabbit her starts

as for the exhaust tips... I installed the tips made by Chevy for the 3.9L dual exhaust Impalas..(these wont fit the SS- nor will SS tips fit on 3.9)... and everytime I wash the car-I clean them with simple green. And Southern California has little moisture too.theyre still shiny. Same for rims- I clean the rubber tire with AJAX and a stiff brush- once car is done and dried, I go and spray simple green on the rims.... 1 wet rag to clean and a dry rag to finish cleaning- rims look nice and clean.

Thanks for the info about the exhaust tips. I looked at the left side close up and noticed a hairline crack in the inside bottom of the tip; so now I know why it is rusting. If Chevy does not warrenty it I will probably have a beefer set welded on.

the tips I purchases are GM. They are only available from the dealer. The only reason I knew about them was because the chevy website had them under the link to things you can get for the car- clicking on them made little tips appear on the car on the website...
But I ordered them from online-Chevrolet dealer.
Installed them myself- after sawing away part of the tips.
I was surprissed at the quality of the tips. they were heavy and double walled. I keep them clean so that any gunk doesnt have a chance to make rust start up. In your case- maybe an occasional cleaning with Brasso would help?
