Default Passive Lock/Unlock System Not Working

Apologies in advance if there is already a thread on this issue and didn't see it (can't find anything more broadly either). If so please point me in the right direction. 2014 Chevy Impala 2LTZ, purchased Nov 2013, 35K miles. Other than recalls, not one issue until recently. This model comes with the passive lock/unlock system (the button in the door handle) and has worked fine up until ~ the last month. The passive lock/unlock button does not work on either of the driver side doors. I'm 99.9% sure it's not my key fobs. I have a new battery in my main one and brought out both spares to test. Passenger side doors work fine. It seemed to go out gradually on the driver side. Would work intermittently and then less intermittently and now nothing. I've toyed with the set up menu in this area, opened and shut all the doors and the hood, played with the internal lock/unlock etc. The check engine light came on briefly a while back and I'm sure it threw a code but haven't taken it into the deal (and I don't have a diagnostic reader) but guessing it might relate to this. I know it seems small but I always just keep my key in my bag and just use the passive unlock to enter and have the passive lock to auto lock after I leave the car. Any ideas? Thanks in advance.
