Default Question to Impala 2007 owner.

Hi there,

We have planned a trip to the US in september and will be renting an Impala. ( my grandfather used toown a 58 and later a 71 )
I'm not sure what "model year" companies are issuing for the moment. I guess a 2007 model.

My question is. Can somebody please measure the size of the interior of the trunk?

We have no idea how big it is and if our luggage will fit in !!

We are interested in the width of the trunk (also between the wheels ) as well as the height from the bottom till the rubber gasket, packing,..( in the middle ) as the depth. ( I hope my english is ok ) ( inch or cm whatever is most convenient ). The only information we have is its cubic feet (18.6) of the cargo volume.

With this information can wethen start packing here without the worries that not all luggage will fit in the trunk.

Thank you very much in advance.

best regards from Belgium,

Nicolas

My old 71 Impala book shows 20.5 cu.ft. if you can remember what the 71 looked like.
2007is 527 liters or very large, the floor is flat.
Front to back 51"48" between wheel wells but muchwider from the wheel wells to the rear of the car. 19" high.
Three of us just completed a 8000km or 5000 mile trip and still had littleroom left over by the time we got home with all our newitems.

Many, manythanks Jim. We really appreciate it.
This was just what we needed.

Regarding the 71. I do remember that car very well.

It had a single seat in the front. (or a couch whatever you would call it)
It was so amazing to sit in the front between my dad and my grandfather. ( no view on the road however, I was just a little kid then ;-)

Ours was black, a friend of my grandfather owned a white one - convertible. Together did they use them to drive people around for weddings and funerals. If there were no ceremonies then the Impala was used as ataxi. A real entrepreneur he was, running a tea-room, being a taxi driver as well doing ceremonies.

Having an Impala was quite impressive back in the 60-70's, knowing that in that time US cars were very rare in Europe.

Thanks again Jim,

Best regards,

Nic

The trunk is big, but the opening has a rather high lift over and is only about 38" wide. Once inside the trunk it gets wider, but if you have a very large piece of luggage it may not fit through the opening. I have an Impala SS and the back seats fold down and it has as much room as a small pickup bed butI don't know if all Impalas havefold down back seats. If there are more than 2 in your group this wouldn't help you any.
