Default Steering noise

I'm a noob here. I have an 04 Impala SS that knocks when turning left and right. CV boots are fine. I tried doing a search and didn't really find anything. Can anyone help please?

More than likely it's the intermediate steering shaft, needs to be greased. It's down by
your feet. Kind of a light popping noise when you turn, kind of like cracking your knuckles.

That sounds about right. I called my Chevy store and the service dept said there is a lube kit for it. But when I talked to the parts dept they said the lube kit is discontinued and I would have to buy the shaft. But since I too am a dealer, I'll get it at a discounted price. $87.25. Does this sound right? Parts said this new shaft has all the bugs worked out of it.. supposedly.
I'm crossing my fingers.

That's what i do myself, also. Every couple of oil changes, i have someone turn the steering
wheel side to side while i spray grease on the knuckle. Next time i'm going to try
John Deere chain and cable lubricant. It foams up when sprayed, and then soaks deep into
everything. I think it might work better.
