hello,
im trying to figure out how to test the mixture control solenoid with a dwell meter but i cant find enough info on searching on google.

also there is a green connector that is spliced in the green wire for the mc solenoid that is not attached to anything, cant figure out what its for.

Are you having trouble with emissions passing, or won't run right?

There is no emission testing where I'm at for cars 25 years or older,
it just runs a little rough at idle and smells like a gas station. Plus this is my first car I bought recently so id like to test everything to make sure its all good.

Thanks for your help

So that green connector is for the + side of the dwell and the - goes to a good ground, then set the dwell meter to 6 cyl (for any engine). It should read around 30 degrees (50% duty cycle) if its less than 30 the computer is sending a rich command to the mc solenoid, under 30 is a lean command. If there is no green connector you have to splice in the + side of the dwell to the b side of the mc solenoid or the green wire
