Default under warranty - do I pay to have codes read?

The online form appointment form quoted $125 to read the engine codes.

Are you serious?

I'm under warranty.

Must be generic on their webform.

I entered the information under a different area other than needing a diagnostic, and the confirmation email stated that diagnostic work not performed under warranty subject to fee's.

Just was concerned that I was going to get whacked $125 for a diagnostic check on a vehicle under warranty by their online web form.

They should not charge for reading a code under warranty if the code is for something covered by the warranty. You can go to Autozone and they will read the code for free. You won't have to wait as long as you would at the dealer either.

they won't charge you as long as said repair is covered.

I already scanned it a few days ago with my canobd2 reader from years ago.

Haven't had any warranty work done except back in 2004 for AC and power window. So it's been a very long time.

for my 95 i bought an autoxray 7000. most people dont want a scanner at home but i found it invaluable esp after installing the new engine. had MAP code and no one had the scanner for that old a car.

and everyone will be out of warranty someday and sure beats the autozone dude just trying to sell you O2 sensors everytime you go in so i recommend everyone get a scanner because they are fun

OBDII was implemented in some vehicles in 1994 and was made mandatory for all vehicles for the 1996 model year.
