Default Absolutely No Power

hey guys any help would be apreciated

so i went to start my 1987 K5 last week and it started to turn slowly, with power on, then nothin, no lights, no radio, absolutely nothin.

so bought a new battery....nothin.
changed my battery terminals....nothin
checked my grounds........nothin
oh yeah checked the fuses too.......nothin
next step is i want to check my fusible link, but i cant find the damn thing, anyone know where its at? i see what i think they call a wireing harness thats on the positive cable, thats metal and bolted to the frame, im thinking its in there? is it? its really cold and ive been working on it all day taking a break for now, otherwish i'd take it off and see if its under there. and also i was wondering if anyone had any suggestions.

i read another guys post on here and it was similiar to mine, although i am not getting power at all, and he says he hears clicks once in awhile. my radio only came on once since after it happend, and when i turned the key off and back on it never came on again.

well anyways he said the starter was his problem

if it was only the starter wouldnt my headlights and **** atleast work? or no?

any help would be apreciated,

oh yeah this forum is bad ***, long live the k5 blazer, i wouldnt trade mine for a million dollars.

oh yeah i forgot, when i did check the ground coming from the body to the frame with one of the ohmeter things, i wasnt getting a continuity reading, then i unbolted it and tried, and i did get one, then i had a buddy hold the ground to a cleaner part of metal on the body, and tried starting it, ......nothin.

just wanted to add that.

Look on the firewall just to your left of the master cylinder, you'll see a block with wires running to and from it. Check for power there.... should be 12 volts constant.

It means there is power going to the fuse panel.
There may be a problem with the ignition switch ... start checking there.

I would check to see if your alternator and your starter have power too. They should both have constant power. I say that because you should have lights without the ignition. Unless I am wrong. ( I could be) It does make sense to be the ignition though. Good luck.

fixed the problem, it was the starter.

so weird though, because ive blown alotta starters in my day,in all diffrent kinda cars, and i dont recall ever not getting power at all because of it, guess these trucks are weird.

but yeah problem fixed, i had a buddy look at it, and he did somthing with a screwdriver to the starter and got power to come on, but wouldnt crank, then i beat on it while he tried to start it and i got it to start, turned it off, and tried again and it wouldnt turn by itself. so i threw a new starter on it and everythings works great again.

big black betsie rides again.
