Default Anyone convert and auto to a stick?

Hey guys,

I have a 92 Blazer that is kind of my project truck. It has the stock auto transmission in it and is on its last leg. I want to find a 5 speed and throw in there. Has anyone ever done this? What all is involved?

Thanks for any help.

I would think the biggest part of this project is installing a clutch pedal and all its linkages. Other than that you'd have to find either a trans that will bolt to your transfer case or an adapter, get rid of your flexplate and install a clutch assembly. I had thoughts of this too when I was looking for a trans for my 88 k5. But I figured a stick would be harder to use during mud bogging so I just went with a th400.

i did this to a 92 s10 blazer years ago. as frickenbored stated, the hardest part was installing the clutch lines, clutch master cylinder, and the pedal. but i had my conversion done in a weekend time. if you use the nv series 5 speed, found in the newer rigs (late 80's/early 90's) you shouldn't need an adapter for the t-case. MAYBE a longer driveline, tho i think i was able to use the one already on rig. you'll have to take out the steering column to remove the brake pedal and it's bracket and install the one with clutch pedal, drill a hole thru firewall for the clutch master cylinder. and of course a cut a hole for the stick. none of this is hard at all, just takes awhile to get it all done. buy a new flywheel, new clutch set if you can, that way you know all is good. let us know if you have anymore questions about this.

This sounds good to me. I really do not like automatics, I guess that comes from driving 5.0 mustangs for years. I like the dependability of the stick over the automatic. I have had an automatic leave me on the side of the road before because it stopped pulling. I was wondering about the computer controlling the automatic in my 92 k blazer. Would the stick conversion cause any problems with that.
