Default Electrical system nonfunctional. Help?

hey guys new member, i recently had to take the starter out of my 1976 350 blazer because it was packed full of mud from offroading. i took the starter apart and cleaned it, then put it back in, with the 2 smaller gauge wires accidentally wired backward. i tried to start it, and it made a very quick sparking noise and now nothing electrical works on my truck. no headlights, wipers, no fasten your seatbelt light on the dash, and there are no sparks when the battery cables are touched to the wrong posts. i was told to look at the grounding wires that run from the back of the motor to the frame, but i have no idea where those are and have never heard of them. im 16, notice the amateur installation mistake, and i need some help.

usually the ground runs from the alternator to the batt and also there should be one at the back of the engine to the body, if not make one and while u are at it make one from the frame to the engine too, also i would try arcing your batery out for a second or use a test light too see if it works
