Default How to tell difference between engines

So I found a deal for an 89 Jimmy, but the guy says it has a TBI 307? Obviously that was never made, and in 89 they only offered the 350 or 6.2, but how do I tell its not a swapped TBI 305? Thanks in advance

isnt the 307 an olds engine? olds tranny cooler lines run on the drider side and use the same bellhousing bolt pattern as the 6.2 diesel, so if the truck was diesel at 1 time it could be possible although it would take a lot of work especially with throttle body, i have seen a rocket 350 in an old diesel shorbox chevy but carbureted

The 307 is an older Chevy sb. I believe the 305 is a little more refined. TBI is a +. If I were you I'd I would get something with a 350 or 400ci My perfect running 305 Can not haul my overweight blazer. Ask any proffesional a 305 will never make as much power as a 305 can, They just hate more fuel.

307 is most likely an Oldsmobile motor if its in an 1989 model year. I dont think they ever put an 307 in truck platforms. Where is the distributor? Olds distrib. are in front of the block while Chevys are in the rear.
