I have a 2005 Malibu Maxx -the Remote start does not work-Lights flash when pressing lock and start buttons--but no start- have slaved in a new hood latch assy-and the problem still persists--hood latch switch not defective--Is it possible that I may have a bad relay in the fuse box under the hood. Is the relay identified as "Crank/Start". Vehicle starts normally with the key. Appreciate any ideas.

Welcome to the forum. You won't get anywhere without a Tech 2 scan tool. Consider a visit to the service department if this feature is important to you.

My 2006 Chevy Malibu has the same problem... remote worked great when I bought it, then all the sudden I changed the battery on the car and the doors locked but the stupid auto start wouldn't fire up. I think chevy needs to take a look at that issue...it's not certain years having issues it's their system..people with different years are all having the same issue.

Problem is you cannot do it yourself they made it that way so you have to return to the dealer and make them rich off a simple task... You have to be a tech and use a scan in order to get it to work. Believe me I wish It was that simple... otherwise I wouldn't have had to pay what I did every time I changed out my car battery.

Saltgrass82,
I had just wanted to check in and see if you were currently experiencing difficulties with your remote start on the key fob, or if this has been a recurring problem in the past but is currently a non-issue. If we can be of any assistance, please let us know.
Best,
Sarah (Assisting Louis)
